January 30 - Yerba Buena, California was renamed San Francisco

Today is inane answering machine day, but it is another one of those uninspiring holidays (to me). so after some through search I found that today in 1847 Yerba Buena, California became San Francisco, California. As Rudyard Kipling might have said “San Francisco has only one drawback—‘tis hard to leave.”  Amen.
